FAQs about Material Used

Sterling Silver

1. What is Sterling Silver?

Here’s to answering sterling silver meaning. Sterling silver is a popular pick for fine jewellery designs. It is a combination of 92.5% pure fine silver blended with 7.5% of alloy (usually copper or zinc.) The reason for this alloy blend is because pure fine silver is a relatively softer metal, which means it’s more prone to bends and damages on impact. Adding copper or zinc increases its strength, making your jewellery last much longer.

2. What is the different between sterling silver and fine silver?

Fine silver is 99% pure silver and sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. However, on appearance of both together, there’s hardly any difference.

3. Which is better sterling silver or silver?

There are many reasons to believe that sterling silver is obviously a better choice among the two.

The biggest reason is cost. While there’s hardly any difference in appearance, the composition of sterling silver dramatically reduces the cost of jewellery.

Another big factor is durability. Fine 99% silver isn’t just as long-lasting as sterling silver. Alloys are added to silver in order to make it stronger.

4. Can sterling silver be worn every day?

Yes! Sterling silver jewellery is made to be worn every day. Sterling silver maintains its shine forever, so it will stay its shining self today, tomorrow, and even 10 years from today!

5. Is sterling silver good quality?

Yes, sterling silver is a stronger material than gold! Its alloy makes sure that it doesn’t bend or dent easily and can be worn safely and every day without the fear of damage.

6. Can I shower with sterling silver?

While wearing sterling silver jewellery while taking a shower will not harm or damage the jewellery, it might cause quicker tarnishing. Water has chemicals such as chlorine that might affect the appearance of this metal alloy. We suggest removing jewellery before getting into shower.

9K Gold

1. What is 9 karat gold?

If you are a fan of shining gold jewellery, then you’re familiar with the term karat. But do you understand karat of gold? Here we’re explaining what it means to own a 375 gold or 9 karat gold jewellery piece from Rachel Galley.

2. What is a karat?

A measurement of gold with the ratio of other metals. 24 karat is the purest form of gold you can buy, other measurements of gold purity are 9 karat, 14 karat, 18 karat, and 22 karat. More karat means more gold.

3. Why are other metals added to 9ct gold?

In its pure state gold jewellery is incredibly malleable, which means it’s soft and easier to break, bend, and dent. Other strong metals like copper, nickel, silver, or palladium are added to gold to make it stronger.

4. What is 375 gold stamp?

375 gold stamp is another term for 9K gold.

2. Can you wear 9ct gold every day?

Yes! 9k gold jewellery is made to be worn every day. It’s a strong metal choice and does not lose it shine or shape.

3. Does 9K Gold last?

Because of higher alloy mixture, this is a metal that’s made to last forever. The alloy is designed in a way to make it much stronger and durable.
